The Dream of hosting the First International Homeopathy Conference in Singapore was a preconceived notion even as ¡°Pioneer Homeopathy School ¡± was established seven years ago in the year 2000. Over the past seven years, this faculty has risen from a humble beginning to its present status of realizing its dream under the helm of the able Dr.Rangachari, who has devoted himself to Homeopathy and has been instrumental in its growth in Singapore as well as in the neighbouring Countries.
Under the Divine influence of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, just after seven years of its birth, Pioneer Homeopathy School , decided to host an International Homeopathy Conference in 2007. This move was well supported by Mr.Karthik of Bahola Health Care and The Singapore Tourism Board. Many other sponsors like Saipaduka Homeopathy Clinic, Malaysian Faculty of Homeopathy, New life Laboratories, Health point Homeo Clinic, Convansys (Asia Pacific) Pvt Ltd, joined in, contributing towards the success of this event. Indian Airlines sponsored two air tickets and a few more were sponsored by the members of the Pioneer Homeopathy to bring in eminent Homeopaths from all over the world.
From September of 2006, preparations started in earnest for the conference which was scheduled to be held on 12th and 13th May 2007. A decision to host the Conference at The Novotel, Clarke Quay Hotel was taken. A flurry of activity followed, from collating a database of Homeopaths world over, to dispatching the invitations. At this point, the important decision of publishing a souvenir magazine and a Group Remedies (GR) Book was taken. The Theme ¡°Homeopathic Approach to Contemporary Ailments¡± was selected. Committees were formed to manage each aspect of the arrangements, like registration of the delegates, their boarding and lodging, as well as putting together articles to be published in the magazine. As the dates of the conference approached, the volunteers of each committee went into the finer details of organizing, spending sleepless nights setting everything in order to ensure the success of the maiden venture of the faculty.

Dr. Alok started the session with an introduction of the first speaker, Dr.A.U.Ramakrishnan who spoke on ¡°Diabetes & Hypertension¡±. His speech was lively and at the same time drove in the seriousness of Diabetes & Hypertension ¨C The scourges of the modern times due to the changed lifestyles of the people. He offered successful Homeopathic Treatments in control & management of Diabetes and also highlighted on the limitation of certain aspects of treating the disease.
Dr.Chandrasekhar Algundgi second speaker of the day spoke on the Theme of the Conference ¡°Homeopathic Approach to Contemporary Ailments.¡± He stressed that being based on the Principles of Natural Laws, Homeopathic Principles will always remain constant at the same time it is capable of development in terms of methods of application with the help of modern tools. He then interpreted vital force in terms of different kinds of Energy, Albert Einstein¡¯s Theory of Relativity and the First Law of Thermodynamics. A voyage into a totally different aspect of Homeopathy indeed!
Next was a speech on Malignancy by none other than Dr.Farokh Master wherein he discussed the case of a patient who had squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue, with the help of visual aid and patient interviews. This was a responsive interactive session where the delegates participated in guessing the remedy. The discussion of the case of cancer helped to understand the approach to Malignant cases especially advanced cases where the pathological symptoms are more.
Again over Lunch, the delegates interacted informally making useful connections. The four stalls set up by the Bjains, Dr.Rajendran, Dr.Abhay Talwalkar and Dr. Shazar Robinson were quite crowded as interested delegates made their way to enquire about the soft wares. All of them were also allowed to give a presentation of their software during the course of the two days of the Conference. Apart from the above four stalls, Bahola Healthcare also displayed their products for sale and the business was quite brisk.
Session II
It started with Dr. Maneesha Solanki¡¯s speech on Enuresis. She talked on stress and how it affects physiological and behavioral response and manifests in problems like Enuresis. By discussing some of her successful Case Histories She emphasized on the selection of Individualized Constitutional remedies for complete cure of the condition. It is indeed heartening to note that conditions like this where mostly children are involved can be well managed and cured by Homeopathy.
This was followed by Dr.Alok Pareek¡¯s speech on ¡°Pathetic State of Children¡±. This speech truly brought about an awareness of Cerebral Palsy in children and the Wonderful Work of Doctor Alok in dealing with such children and making them self-sufficient to the extent possible. That by itself is an Achievement which was stressed upon during the question and answer session where the success of such cases was questioned. According to Dr.Alok, emotional symptoms of the mother are very important in taking the case of children. The question and answer session that followed the presentations was very lively and well handled by the respective Doctors. Where necessary, the chairperson or the senior Homeopaths stepped in to clarify doubts. The repartee between the delegates during such sessions was enjoyed by all.
This brought to close the first day¡¯s events with Dr.Alok Pareek thanking everyone and expressing his inability to chair the next day¡¯s event due to his busy schedule.
Day Two ¨C Session I
The events of the second day of the Conference were chaired by Dr.Chandrashekar Algundgi in the Pre-Lunch Session and by Dr.Farokh Master in the Post Lunch session.

He explained that his approach in treating such cases is Miasmatic assessment where cases are treated with single remedies with long follow up.
Next speaker was one of our faculty members, Dr.Jyotsna Shrivastava, who has been practicing homeopathy in Singapore for past seven years. Dr.Jyotsna stood there confidently and presented a case of knee tendon injury emphasizing on constitutional Homeopathic medicine as an effective cure and a great alternative to surgery. Dr.Jyotsna stood with ease among all the eminent speakers and gave her precise presentation making all of us here in Pioneer Homeopathy very proud.
The next speaker of the day was Dr.Jeremy Sherr who spoke on the treatment and research of AIDS. AIDS being the Epidemic of this century, he first spoke on Aphorisms 100, 101 & 102 which explain Dr.Hahnnemann¡¯s views on the investigation of Epidemic Diseases and their cure. Then with the help of Visual aid and interview with a Patient diagnosed with AIDS, he explained how he cured him of the disease. That gave a whole new perspective to the curing power of Homeopathy as also the stigma attached to AIDS that it¡¯s just another one of the many Infectious Diseases prevalent in to-day¡¯s society.
Session II
This session started with an interesting presentation by Dr.Abhay Talwalkar on ¡°Carbon series in Pregnancy¡±. Dr.Abhay, with his wide experience in pregnancy & homeopathic medicines, found a pattern of Carbon remedies and its closest remedies in the group together yielding better results during the process of pregnancy and labour. Having established a pattern, he made a connection of Carbon Remedies in the periodic Table to the various stages of Labour & Birth. It was a totally new insight into Childbirth and Carbon Remedies.
The next speaker of the day was Dr.Trevor Cook who spoke on the topic ¡°New Research with Allium Remedies.¡± Consistent with his Chemistry and a Pharmaceutical background, he spoke in detail about the structure of remedies and the essential nutrients that they contain. He finally finished his speech by comparing the two remedies- Allium Cepa & Allium Sativa.
Dr.Trevor Cook¡¯s speech was followed by a case-discussion by Dr.Farokh Master. He narrated the case and went through the steps of finding the remedy. It was a case of strangulated Inguinal Hernia where the patient was on the verge of collapse with moaning and crying in pain. Delegates were asked to classify symptoms according to what belongs to the disease and what belongs to the patient. Finally the remedy turned out to be Veratrum Album which corresponded with the patient¡¯s condition of collapse. The transformation in the condition of the patient the following day was evident in the Audio Visual presentation.
This presentation was followed by Vote of Thanks by Dr.Rangachari who thanked everyone involved in the organizing of this Conference as well as those who attended the Conference.
A good exposure to different facets of Homeopathy from experts in the field during the Conference was immediately followed by a Workshop conducted by Dr.Jeremy Sherr on the 14th & 15th May 2007 and a Talk by Dr.Farokh Master on the 17th of May 2007 at the RELC Auditorium. Both Programs were indeed an eye-opener to understanding Homeopathy from a totally different perspective other than the Philosophy and the Materia Medica and the attendees benefited a great deal.
With this, the five day program of the conference came to an end. On the whole this project of hosting the 1st International Conference was a very successful event attended by about 160 delegates mostly from India, Malaysia, Australia, UK, Indonesia as well as from Singapore. It was a time of sharing of knowledge for the experienced Homeopaths while it proved to be an excellent learning experience for the delegates especially the students of Pioneer Homeopathy.
Thus, the Dream of hosting an International Conference having come true for all of us here at the Pioneer Homeopathy School, we are now left with only memories of the surreal experience. Nevertheless sweet Memories they are!!!
